Gorge walk

Cheddar Gorge
Cheddar Gorge

Versions of the classic walk around the top of both sides of Cheddar Gorge has been promoted both by Longleat (who own the south side) and the National Trust (who own the north side) independently for many years. The Cheddar Walking route aims to create one consistent version which also cuts out a stretch of unnecessary roadway walking that appears on other variations. It’s also likely to be the most up-to-date. If you are walking around Cheddar Gorge, this is the walk guide you need!

You’ll need good walking gear, and expect rocky paths and some strenuous climbs. In return you will be rewarded with some epic views and plenty of wildlife to spot – including the ubiquitous sheep and goats.
